Isn't This Supposed to be a Third World Country?

Where's all the ridiculously dirt cheap stuff?  I keep looking for places to go and things to do, and the cost is pretty significant.  I thought everything here was supposed to be stupidly cheap.  Do I have to go to the dingy, crime-ridden parts of the country for the cheap stuff?  Damn it, people.

I want to hire some guy to drive me around to nearby interesting spots.  I want to get a hand-tailored suit like on the Top Gear episode when they went to Vietnam.  I want to buy gifts for people back home for barely pocket change in US money.

There's a tour of Manila history, but it's like $100.  (Not 100 pesos, 100 American dollars.  Which is, like, a billion pesos.)  There's a resort that someone sent me a link to, and it's like $300/night plus extra for the activities.  How much is it going to cost me to fly to Hong Kong for a weekend?

What the crap, people?  You live in a tropical country.  Surely there's something we can just get up and go do that doesn't cost a ton of money.  Isn't there?
