This evening I set aside some time with the team to go out to dinner. My treat, of course. (And my employer is going to reimburse me, of course.)
We went to a local Japanese place near the office, and dinner for five (including a couple mango smoothies, which are awesome around these parts) came to a grand total of $30.938005 USD (according to the conversion on Google). This includes tip, by the way. That was a bit of an awkward moment for me, asking the guys with me if it's customary to leave a tip. They kept indicating where I should sign on the receipt. I got that part (though they need two copies signed here for some reason), but was unclear on the tip. Apparently there's a built-in "service charge" and so tipping is not customary. Sweet.
Considering that this is the really nice part of the biggest city here, that's a damn good price. Would have been nearly twice as much in the US, easily.
